Me: Sorry I can't make that meeting, I was going to take the day off as it's my best mate's birthday. I hope that's ok?

My boss: Yes it's fine Sarah I just thought it would be good for them to meet you and put a face to the name but it's not essential.

Me: Maybe you can take a cardboard cutout of me instead??

My boss: That's a great idea!

[Two weeks later]

My boss: I've been thinking about that cardboard cutout idea of yours and I'm going to get photos taken of you all at the next team meeting so we can go ahead with it. I think it would be great for any events you lot can't attend. We could make it so your hands are holding your business cards.

Me: ...

(Just to be clear SHE IS NOT JOKING)

Every now and then I'll be reminded that there was an episode of Neighbours devoted to Bounder's dream and I'll be all 'LOL, wut?' and then laugh uncontrollably for about 10 minutes or so.

Happens WAY more often than you'd think.
